Question on row/column limitations of generated list with SET_LIST command

Hello, we have a user that is trying to generate a list via SET_LIST command; expected number of rows is 15,000 and the step failed due to a validation error 'Max allowed rows number is 1000', please see screenshot below.

Please confirm if there are limitations to generated lists' rows and columns and what they are if any, and if there would be future enhancements to increase them. I would also ask that the User Guide be updated with this limitation info for the SET_LIST/MODIFY_LIST commands. Thanks.

Hi Stephen,

Generally, every system has its limitations, which are primarily determined by the resources available on that system. In this case, these limitations can be configured to suit specific needs through the admin panel of your installation.

To adjust the maximum table rows, simply navigate to the admin panel, click on "General," and you'll find the "Maximum Table Rows Limit" setting. This limit can be increased up to 15,000 rows. Once set (You have one tenant, this is setting for all tenants), you'll be able to further adjust this limit for individual accounts when logged in as an admin under Administration menu Account Preferences".

As an example about this limitation, please note the content within the cells in a spread sheet greatly affects performance. For instance, suppose you have an Excel sheet with 15,000 rows and 100 columns, where each cell contains up to 10,000 characters, could result in a file size around 15GB. Such large files can significantly hinder performance, as even a 1GB file can cause Excel to become sluggish. This is why we allow configurable limitations, enabling tailored performance management based on individual user requirements as there is no way for us to know what kind of files will be used.

As for the documentation, including specific values like the 'max allowed rows' directly might lead to confusion due to variability between different accounts and installations. However, I agree that adding a detailed explanation on adjusting these settings could greatly benefit our user guide.

I hope this clarification helps! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

Thanks,
