Reset Filter option in Data Sets Template UI should not reset the template id.

For the new filter options on version 9.4.2.1905, when you select the Reset Filter option in the Data Sets Template UI; the template id is removed and the data sets for ALL templates are showing, please see screenshots below.

For the Data Sets Template UI, the Reset option should not reset the template id; it should be read only and disabled. Thanks.

Hi Stephen,

Thank you for writing about this, but this is considered a feature because it allows you to see all datasets in one place in case you would like to see them.

Could you please elaborate to let us know why you think this behavior should be adjusted?

Hi Joseph, to me this should be restricted to the Artifacts/Dataset or Data Template section.

If I were accessing a dataset for another tester’s test case and when I reset the filter other datasets that do not belong to the testcase are revealed, how do I know that indivertibly selecting a completely different dataset does not mess up the test case? To me it introduces more potential of defects.

Unless the tester adds a new data template string in the test case itself, it should only show the datasets associated to the referenced dataset.

If this is a feature then I guess that there is nothing I can do other than not to use the reset filter in the Data Sets Template UI, but I will not be surprised if other users report this as well. Thanks.

Hi Stephen,

The filters behavior must be consistent throughout our platform. If the user chooses to reset the filter for any reason, we will respect their wish and remove it. If user wants to see only the relevant datasets, then they should not use reset.

Hi Stephen,

We have made some fixes as you suggested. The Template ID has now been removed and placed directly next to the title, so there is no more active filter and this should prevent confusion. Changes are now in production version 9.4.6 and should be available to you once you upgrade.

Thank you for your suggestions, we really appreciate it.
