New drop-down menu for a step
Hello. in 9.4.3 version I noticed that you removed checkboxes and added drop-down option for each step. Current functionality is uncomfortable and it would be good to have some kind of poll to get a public opinion if users would like to keep it or roll back to original functionality. When working with a script which includes lots of steps, it is very uncomfortable to hover over and select each option if I want to skip temporarily steps for debugging. Previously I could do it in few seconds, now I need to go over each step, hover over and select skip which is not visible unless you hover over again. Imaging doing it to 10-50 steps just to debug something that should take few minutes. Now, it takes me about 5-10 minutes to skip those steps. Lots of wasted time.
And I only mentioned skip option. Same issue with other checkboxes or options like add or remove step. I would really appreciate if it would be possible to bring previous functionality back. If you like this new feature a lot, maybe you could add option for users to disable it and be able to use older version?
hello, I do agree that it is a lot to gte used to doing actions with two steps instead of the previous one; and it is a lot to get used to the blue highlight on steps that have been skipped or have breakpoints when it is not easy to discern the difference unlike before.
I have two users at our organization that have now complained about this change, I think this feature should be optional to individual users to use the individual columns like before or the combined one that we have now. Thanks.
Thank you all for your feedback. We improved the user experience of test script steps in two primary ways to help different types of users, which you should now see in production:
- We adjusted the hover menu to increase the target area of all the elements, and included a delay on the menu to prevent it from accidentally opening and from closing too quickly
- We extended the bulk tool to include skipping steps, which lets you quickly select multiple steps, or even a range of steps, and skip those
- There's a also subtle way to quickly add additional steps - the hover menu doesn't disappear when you add a new step, so you can click that multiple times to add additional steps
We would still like to meet with Dominic and Akinpelumia to better understand you and your team's usage of the tool, and will reach out to find a time to meet.
