Subject7 version 8.14.2 - 7/18/2020

Subject7 version 8.14.2 has the following enhancements and bug fixes:

  • Introduced a new Commands Editor which allows you to view your test cases in SQL-like language. To view this editor, open your test case and click Advanced View. At the moment, this editor is in read-only mode and capability to save any edits you make will be added in the next release.
  • Introduced folder structure to functions and artifacts. You can now create folders in functions and artifacts (web locators, data templates, etc) and organize your repository.
  • Added an ability to upload data sets to a data template through REST API
  • Added an array of new timeouts to Admin Preferences (in addition to existing timeouts) where admins can set a maximum limit for their users which they cannot override. For example, if the admin sets the maximum limit for Wait command as 60 seconds, users cannot execute this step longer than 60 seconds until the admin allows them to do so.  The list includes:
    • Step timeouts (s)
    • Page timeouts (s)
    • Locator timeouts (s)
    • Execution Speed (ms)
    • Ramp up time (s) – Load Testing
    • Period (min) – Load Testing
    • Wait (s)
    • Verify Command Attempts
    • Verify Command Intervals (s)
    • Session Timeout (min)
  • Fixed an issue with missing options in Artifacts (Import Data Sets, Change Owner and Change Project)
  • Mobile Testing: Added 80 new Android emulators for mobile testing that can be used in local and cloud runs (refer to Mobile Setup guide). Requires Native license.
  • Chrome driver is upgraded to version 84.0.4147.30 and supports Chrome version 84
  • Some other minor enhancements and bug fixes

Hi Joseph, these were the same release notes posted for 8.14 on 6/27/2020. Is there nothing new b/w releases 8.14 and 8.14.1? thanks.

    Hi Stephen,
Native Mobile emulators were recently added in 8.14.1, so the release notes were combined into one as 8.14.1.

There is a 30 seconds limit for Locator timeouts (s) in Admin account preferences. In some cases the elements on the page are loaded separately and it needs more than 30 seconds to time-out, therefore we have been using 60 seconds for locators, now this limitation is failing some of the test cases. Can this limitation be removed or the max for locator is set to 60?

    Hi Hasib,
In the built-in admin account (URL/admin), you can adjust the default timeouts which will allow you to use higher limits than the ones in Account Preferences. if you want to do it for the whole server, you can update server values in General menu.
If for a specific account, you can go to Account Dashboard menu and change it for that specific account (Show Settings > Timeout Limits).
Then you can login as normal admin with normal URL and increase limits in Account Preferences within the new limits.

What is new for 8.14.2? Is it just the support for Chrome 84?

    Good Morning Subject7 Team,
The "Period (min) – Load Testing" in the "Admin Preferences" for NHLBI is set to max 720 (which I assume it's minutes), however the load tests plan give warning if there are more than 720 seconds. I think the unit should be same in both places.
